Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 puts you inside the Dragon Ball timeline as a created character whose job is to stop someone else rewriting it. Familiar fights from the series play out wrong, and you drop in to correct them.

The created-character angle is what carries it. You pick a race - Saiyan, Namekian, Majin, Frieza Race or Earthling - and each has genuinely different stats and abilities, then learn moves directly from series characters as mentors.
