Assassin's Creed Valhalla follows Eivor, a Norse raider who leaves a crowded Norway for the fractured kingdoms of ninth-century England. It is the largest of the modern Assassin's Creed games and the one most interested in settlement: your camp at Ravensthorpe grows with each alliance, and the buildings you choose to raise change what you can do.

Raids give the combat a rhythm the series had lost, and the political thread running through Wessex, Mercia and Northumbria means the map is worked through by negotiation and betrayal as much as by force.
