NBA 2K20 is a basketball simulation that spends as much attention on the off-court systems as the game itself. MyCAREER opens with a scripted story following a college player through the draft, and MyTEAM builds a squad out of collected cards across current and historical rosters.

On the court, the shooting mechanics reward timing and shot selection over raw stick skill, and the defensive AI reads spacing well enough that forcing a bad shot feels like something you did rather than something the game allowed.
