EA SPORTS UFC 5 is the first entry in the series built on the Frostbite engine, and the most visible result is the damage system. Cuts open and worsen, swelling closes an eye, and a referee will stop a fight that has clearly gone one way. It changes how you approach the later rounds.

The striking and grappling systems have both been tightened, with clearer feedback on when a submission is close and a stamina model that punishes throwing everything at an opponent early.
