Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel about the Van der Linde gang running out of road. Arthur Morgan is loyal to a leader who is becoming someone else, and most of the game is spent watching that happen slowly.

It is a deliberately unhurried game. Horses need care, weapons need cleaning, and the world responds to you in ways that reward patience over efficiency. The detail is the point - not as spectacle, but because the density is what makes the West feel inhabited rather than staged.
