God of War restarted the series in Norse territory and, more importantly, restarted Kratos. Older, quieter and trying to raise a son he does not understand, he sets out to scatter his wife's ashes from the highest peak in the realms - a journey that goes wrong almost immediately.

The camera never cuts for the entire game, which sounds like a technical boast and turns out to be the reason the relationship between Kratos and Atreus lands. Combat drops the old chained blades for the Leviathan Axe, a weapon you throw and recall, and the whole design is heavier and more deliberate than the original trilogy.
