The Resident Evil 4 remake rebuilds the 2005 game without losing what made it work. Leon Kennedy is sent to rural Spain to recover the president's daughter, and what he finds there is a village that has been taken over by something.

The parry is the significant addition - the knife can now deflect almost anything, including a chainsaw, which changes how the crowd fights play out. The village siege and the castle both survive intact, and the pacing remains as well judged as it was twenty years ago.
